Come Celebrate

Hi all. I recently created a Smash Book/Notebook for a friend for her birthday (I will post on this shortly) and with the scraps, decided to make her a card.
I decided to combine this with a sketch challenge I found on the Mojo Monday blog.

I have used the Mojo Monday 347 sketch challenge.
This card measures 8.25" x 3.45".

Happy Crafting to all.

Explore

Good morning all.
Today I have a mixed media canvas for you.
I purchased a number of these little birds when they where on sale, and have been hoarding them ever since (they were on a really good sale, I just had to buy them - right?)

I have been seeing a lot of birdhouse inspired projects, and that got me thinking about these super cute little birds, but I also wanted something slightly different.
I actually came up with this idea at work, sitting at my computer.
A colleague saw me doing a quick sketch of the layout, and that began an interesting conversation.

I used a couple of recycled items (can you spot them) and some homemade texture paste.
I keep the background muted so it wouldn't take away from the bird, but added bursts of pink and black for interest.

Thankyou all for stopping by, and if you like, please follow me.

E is for Elizabeth

A little while ago, I had purchased a paper mache uppercase E.
I thought this would be a perfect gift for my Mother-in-Law for her birthday,
since her name is Elizabeth.
I got to work and created this altered Mixed Media piece.

Hidden in this altered mixed media piece are alot of carefully chosen and handmade embellishments.
Even if you turn the piece around, there are treasures hidden on the back.
This allows this piece to be stood in front of a mirror and still give an attractive reflection.
Firstly I created all the rolled flowers using Prima Rosarian papers and the lollipop flowers using old text pages. All the flowers were then spritzed with yellow glimmermist.
The yellow actually represents sunshine and an old family saying that has been passed down.
The doily represents her cake decorating, and the dressform represents her dressmaking qualifications and skills. The purple satin comes from a treasured piece of clothing that can no longer be worn.
It's a bonus that purple is Liz's favourite colour.
The ticket has sheet music in the background which represents her singing and piano accomplishments and the jigsaw piece is simply for her love of jigsaw puzzles.
The bottlecaps represent the families love of shandy's whenever on vacation and inside the bottlecaps are images of the Eiffel Tower, one of her favourite holiday destinations.
There are other hidden representative treasures, but I can't give everything away.

An Everyday Kind of Adventure

Thankyou NicoleJones911 for the inspiration on this layout. I loved the idea of the hexagons, so I cased your idea and hand cut all my hexagons for this layout.

I used Scraptastic's March 2014 Lost in My Mind Kit for this Layout.

Happy Mothers Day

Hi all. Wishing everyone a Happy Mothers Day. I know it has been a long time since blogging. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has emailed requests and enquiries to me over the last month. It's due to your emails I have decided to start blogging again.
I have been very busy creating though. Here is a peek at my Christmas Cards last year.

And a sneak peak at a project I am working on.

Thankyou all for stopping by.
